Jane Arnold is survived by her husband, Joel Arnold, and their two children, Sarah Arnold Jesser and Samuel Arnold. She also leaves behind a sister, Ann Judy of Frankfort, Kentucky, and several nieces, including Lissa McCracken of Louisville and Veronica Lynn Cecil and Susan Harrod of Frankfort. Her legacy continues through her three beloved grandchildren, Audrey Jane Jesser—named after her grandmother—Claire Jesser, and Henry Arnold, who brought her immense joy.

Born and raised in Frankfort, Kentucky, Jane graduated from Good Shepherd High School before pursuing higher education. She earned a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Catherine Spalding College and later a Master of Science in Nursing from the University of Maryland. Jane built a fulfilling career as a Professor of Nursing at Middlesex Community College in Lowell, Massachusetts. During her time there, she had a profound impact on countless nursing students, many of whom benefited from her dedication and expertise.

Jane married Joel Arnold in 1974, and together they raised their children in Chelmsford, Massachusetts. Known for her strong work ethic, Jane balanced her teaching career with the demands of family life, often working overtime to pay for her children’s college tuition. Her commitment to her family was unwavering, and friends recalled her kindness and sweetness reflected in how she interacted with her children’s friends during their upbringing.

In retirement, Jane and Joel relocated to a log cabin on a picturesque river in Tamworth, New Hampshire. They would also winter in Georgetown, Texas, to be closer to family. During this stage of her life, Jane embraced her passions by playing golf, bridge, and Mahjong, traveling, and spending cherished moments with her grandchildren and granddogs.

Throughout her life, Jane was described by those who knew her as charismatic, friendly, warm, talkative, intelligent, tall, and beautiful. Her outgoing nature and her ability to make friends effortlessly contributed to her vibrant social life. Jane’s absence will be deeply felt by her family, friends, and the many students she inspired throughout her career.

A memorial service is planned to be held in Tamworth, New Hampshire, where friends and family will gather to honor and celebrate her life and the lasting impact she made on others.

As the nursing community and her loved ones remember Jane Bacon Arnold, they reflect on a life devoted to education, family, and unwavering kindness. Her legacy will live on in the lives of those she touched, both personally and professionally.
