H-E-B Expanding Its Operations in Fort Worth

H-E-B Grocery Store Expansion

News Summary

H-E-B is set to expand its presence in the Dallas-Fort Worth area with a $20 million investment in a new 139,000-square-foot warehouse and a grocery store. Construction is expected to begin soon, enhancing grocery access for locals. This strategic growth aims to accommodate the rising population in the Walsh Ranch area, bolstering H-E-B’s competitive stance against rivals. With the addition of eight new stores since 2022, H-E-B is committed to providing a quality shopping experience in Fort Worth and surrounding communities.

Texas – H-E-B LP, a prominent grocery chain based in San Antonio, is making significant strides in the Dallas-Fort Worth area with plans to invest approximately $20 million in a new warehouse and grocery store. This expansion underscores H-E-B’s strategic efforts to enhance its presence and improve operations within the region.

The company has announced plans for a 139,000-square-foot industrial warehouse to be developed at 6900 AWG Way in south Fort Worth. According to a filing with the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation, construction is slated to commence on August 15, 2025, with an anticipated completion date by March 2027. This facility will function as a general storage space designed to support H-E-B’s growing operations across North Texas.

Maryland-based Andrew W. Booth & Associates Inc. has been selected as the design firm responsible for the warehouse project. The new facility is part of H-E-B’s larger strategy to bolster its supply chain and improve logistics as it continues to expand in the competitive Dallas-Fort Worth market.

In addition to the warehouse, H-E-B is progressing with plans for a new grocery store located at the corner of FM 3325 and the I-20 Service Road in Walsh Ranch, an emerging residential area across the Parker County line. Construction on this grocery store is expected to begin in October 2025, with an estimated completion by December 2026. The store will occupy nearly 128,000 square feet of retail space and will cost approximately $18 million to build.

H-E-B has owned the 19.4-acre property for over a year, having acquired it in December 2024. The Walsh Ranch area is expected to develop into a large community, potentially accommodating up to 50,000 residents once fully developed. This new grocery store will provide residents with access to essential retail services, further enhancing the neighborhood’s appeal as it expands.

H-E-B’s expansion plans are gaining momentum in North Texas, particularly as they open new locations in cities such as Frisco, Cowtown, and Prosper, with additional sites planned in Dallas and Aledo. Since 2022, the company has successfully opened eight new stores in the North Texas region and currently has seven more locations under construction.

Amid established competitors like Whole Foods and Kroger, H-E-B aims to increase its market share and diversify its offerings throughout the Dallas-Fort Worth metroplex. The investment in warehouse facilities is expected to optimize operations, thereby enhancing customer experience and ensuring product availability at its expanding stores.

This latest move signals H-E-B’s commitment to growth in Texas, as the company seeks to adapt to the evolving needs of consumers while maintaining its reputation for quality products and customer service. With a robust expansion strategy, H-E-B is poised to play a significant role in the retail landscape of North Texas in the coming years.
