Born on January 20, 1948, in Georgetown, Texas, Larry was the second son of Clyde Weldon Reeder and Ruby Lee Tucker. He spent his formative years in nearby Andice, where he attended both elementary and middle school before transferring to Georgetown High School, from which he graduated in 1965. He continued his education at Texas Tech University in Lubbock.
In 1967, he married his high school sweetheart, Shirley Ann Martinka, the same year he joined the Army National Guard and began a 25-year career with IBM. After retiring from IBM, Larry co-owned Georgetown Sporting Goods and later worked at Crystal Falls Golf Course for the City of Leander until his retirement in January 2016.

Throughout his life, Larry was known for his commitment to community service. He was a long-standing member of the Knights of Columbus Council #6453 and the Fourth Degree Assembly #2784. His volunteer work included orchestrating bingo games and cooking briskets for events at Saint Helen’s Catholic Church. Larry dedicated time to deliver meals through the Meals on Wheels program and sorted food for the pantry at the Caring Place.
A passionate car enthusiast, Larry was particularly fond of classic cars, and his bright green 1952 Studebaker truck, affectionately named “Kermit,” garnered him several trophies during car shows and races at the Little River Academy racetrack. He was also a loyal attendee of the NHRA Spring Nationals in Houston since its inception in 1988.
Personal Life and Legacy
Larry’s interests were diverse; he enjoyed hobbies such as golf, photography, camping, fishing, and watching various sports. He was recognized for significant contributions to Central Texas Blood Bank and Texas Alliance for Life and served as Scoutmaster for the Saint Helen’s Catholic Church Boy Scout Troop #64. In May 2000, Larry traveled to Guatemala to assist in building a school for children along the Rio Dulce River. This experience profoundly impacted him, leaving him with cherished memories despite battling Alzheimer’s disease later in life.
Larry was preceded in death by his parents and an infant son, Christopher Alan Reeder. He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Shirley, along with their four children: Jennifer (Teresa), Stephanie (Chris), Philip (Jessica), and Patrick (Jennifer). Additionally, his legacy continues through his brother Clyde (Billie), 10 grandchildren, and one great-granddaughter as well as a large extended family.

Visitation will occur on Thursday, September 11, at The Gabriel’s Funeral Home starting at 6 p.m., followed by a Rosary at 7 p.m. A funeral mass is scheduled for Friday, September 12, at 2 p.m. at Saint Helen’s Catholic Church.
