It was here that she met her future husband, Robert Glen Ward. The couple married in the Methodist Church in Lamont and went on to have two children: Joni Carol and Mark Andrew Ward.

Joan and Robert’s journey took them to California, where they resided for many years and continued their educational pursuits. Robert graduated from Western State University and College of Law in 1976, while Joan graduated from Cypress College in 1979. The couple eventually moved to Arizona, where they lived for two decades. Joan was notably elected as the Mohave County Supervisor for District II, serving for four years. As a devout member of the United Methodist Church throughout her life, Joan’s faith played a significant role in her identity.

Joan and Robert were married for an impressive 46 years, during which time they shared a passion for traveling, camping, bowling, reading, and home improvement.
