Lynn was born on August 26, 1946, in San Antonio, Texas, to Robert and Martha Rabel Kassner. He spent his childhood on Lake McQueeney and graduated from Seguin High School in 1964. Shortly after graduation, Lynn married his high school sweetheart, Connie Haas, on December 3, 1966, in Seguin. The couple moved to Austin not long after their wedding and welcomed their daughter, Christy, into their lives.

Throughout his career, Lynn had a long-standing association with IBM and later spent 10 years at Applied Materials. His drive for hard work and commitment to excellence was evident in his professional endeavors. In 1977, he and Connie built their dream home in Georgetown, where they resided happily until his passing.

A passionate outdoorsman, Lynn loved hunting, fishing, barbecuing, boating, skiing, and camping. He was a proud grandfather to Trenton and Grace Scheel. Surviving family members also include his mother, Martha Kassner, sister Ruby Krebs and her husband Clayton Krebs, along with his brother and sister-in-law, Kenny and Barbara Haas. Lynn cherished his family, which included several nieces, a nephew, and his beloved pug, Lily Dale.
