Early Life and Education
Born in 1942 in Rockford, IL, Larry was the son of Vernon and Katherine Anderson. In his youth, he moved to Texas, where he grew up in Rockdale. He completed his high school education there before continuing his studies at the University of Texas. Over five years, he earned a Bachelor of Electrical Engineering and successfully completed the Navy ROTC program.
Military Career and Education
Graduating in 1965, Larry joined the active service in the US Navy Submarine program. His military career began with 18 months on a diesel submarine before he was assigned as Engineering Officer on the USS Nathan Hale. After fulfilling his Navy service obligations, Larry was awarded a scholarship to the prestigious Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), where he pursued higher education, earning an MBA in Finance and a Masters in Nuclear Engineering in 1974.
Federal Service
Following his education, Larry began a career with the Federal Government in Maryland, where he worked for the Nuclear Regulatory Commission. He later moved to the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC), serving there until his retirement in 2002.
