In total, nearly a dozen companies from Houston have gained accolades as top employers. This year also saw expanded categories, with the inclusion of privately-owned companies and organizations offering internships, making this one of the most comprehensive evaluations of employee satisfaction.

The publication organized its list into specific categories, focusing both on job opportunities and industry sectors. This allowed job seekers to effectively navigate their options. A new segment was introduced for companies particularly supportive of employees who are caregivers, reflecting a growing recognition of diverse employee needs.

Top Employers in Houston

Among the list, Chevron stands out as the top public employer in Houston. With an impressive workforce of over 45,000 employees and an annual revenue of $193.47 billion, Chevron excelled in ratings for job stability, employee belonging, and competitive pay. In addition to being recognized on the overall Best Companies list, Chevron also made it to the Best in Energy and Resources, Best Companies in the South, and Best for Internships categories.

On the private sector side, the American Bureau of Shipping (ABS) earned recognition as the top private employer in Houston. ABS is noted for its commitment to work-life balance, job stability, and pay quality, maintaining a workforce of between 5,000 and 10,000 and generating annual revenues of between $1 billion and $10 billion.

The recognition was not limited to major metropolitan areas; Diamondback Energy from Midland was also acknowledged, marking its second consecutive year on the list. The distribution of recognized Texas employers includes an equal representation with 11 companies from both Houston and the Dallas-Fort Worth metro area.
