Texas – Applications are now open for the Startup Texas Accelerator Fall 2025, a 12-week program designed to support early-stage entrepreneurs in refining their business models, accessing funding, and building critical local connections. This initiative is organized by the Brownsville Community Improvement Corporation (BCIC) in collaboration with the Greater Brownsville Incentives Corporation (GBIC) and the UTRGV Entrepreneurship and Commercialization Center.
The accelerator specifically targets entrepreneurs across high-impact sectors including cybersecurity, digital health, e-commerce, automation, and environmental technology, among other innovation-driven industries. Successful applicants will engage in expert-led workshops, receive personalized mentorship, and participate in pitch practice sessions, all aimed at enhancing their business competency.
Participants are expected to have a clear business model and a minimum viable product (MVP) either ready for market or close to completion. The MVP should include sufficient features to gather feedback from early-adopter customers, allowing for necessary adjustments and improvements. Selected founders will commit to the program for 4 to 6 hours per week and must actively seek early-stage investment.
The Startup Texas Accelerator is scheduled to run from September through December 2025 and will culminate in a Pitch Fest. During this event, members of the accelerator cohort will showcase their businesses to a panel of judges, community members, and potential investors. This platform aims to provide entrepreneurs with exposure and valuable networking opportunities.
Furthermore, founders who complete the accelerator will be eligible to apply for BCIC’s Advancement Fund, which offers reimbursements of up to $10,000 for qualified startup expenses. This funding is intended to encourage growth and sustainability among early-stage companies.
Since its launch in November 2023, the Startup Texas Accelerator has supported a number of notable local founders and startups, including Oshun Cruz (RewearAI), Ethan Atlan (AccuCell Biotechnology), and Rodrigo Burberg (carInspections.io). This track record illustrates the accelerator’s commitment to fostering innovation and entrepreneurship in the region.
BCIC initiated the Startup Texas program following a federal grant from the Economic Development Administration, which aims to strengthen the local economy by facilitating startup growth and development.
The deadline for applications to the Fall 2025 program is August 17, 2025. Interested entrepreneurs are encouraged to visit startuptexas.com/emerging-industries for additional information about the accelerator program, application procedures, and the Advancement Fund.
