AUSTIN, TEXAS – The community is coming together to mourn the loss of two beloved local alumni, Michael Bryan McEachern and William “Bill” Catlett, whose recent passing has left a void in the hearts of many.
Michael Bryan McEachern Remembered
Michael Bryan McEachern, known to friends and family as “Bubba,” passed away on June 8, 2025, at the age of 33 in Georgetown, Texas. He was born on February 2, 1992, in Dallas, Texas. Michael was a proud graduate of McCallum High School in Austin, Texas, where he was an active member of the school’s football team, graduating with the class of 2010.
Following high school, Michael furthered his education by attending Texas State Technical College in Waco, graduating on August 17, 2012. He dedicated 20 years of his life to working at Superior Septic and Clean Can, a family business where he was not only an employee but also viewed as a leader and mentor by his colleagues.
Michael was a devoted father to his 10-year-old daughter, Whisper, who he described as his greatest joy and proudest accomplishment. He leaves behind grieving family members including his parents, Ray and Barbara McEachern, siblings Mark (with wife Courtney) and Megan McEachern, as well as extended family and numerous friends.
Funeral services for Michael will take place at Cook Walden Capital Parks Funeral Home in Pflugerville, Texas, on Monday, June 16, 2025.
William “Bill” Catlett’s Legacy
William “Bill” Catlett, aged 75, passed away shortly after on June 11, 2025, at The Christopher House in Austin, Texas. Bill was born in Seminole, Texas, to his late parents, John and Sybel Catlett, and was raised in Abilene, Texas, where he also excelled in football at Abilene High School. His skill on the field earned him a football scholarship to the University of Texas, where he contributed to the university’s 1969 and 1970 National Champion teams.
In addition to his athletic accomplishments, Bill earned a Master’s degree in Architectural Engineering from the University of Texas and later obtained a Law degree from Vanderbilt University. His diverse career included working in the oil and gas industry in Abilene, practicing as an attorney in Dallas, and serving at the University of Texas at Austin in technology transfer, showcasing his commitment to education and innovation.
Bill is survived by his wife, Jackie Catlett, after 35 years of marriage, as well as their two sons, Sean (with wife Shannon) and Blake (with wife Lindsay), along with five grandchildren: Calder, Peyton, Pierce, Keller, and Carson.
A celebration of Bill’s life is set to be held at The County Line on the Lake in Austin, Texas, on June 18, 2025, from 11:15 AM to 3:00 PM.
