Georgetown Residents, Get Ready for a Low-Cost Spay and Neuter Clinic!

Calling all Georgetown residents! This weekend, from February 28 to March 2, the Williamson County Regional Animal Shelter (WCRAS) is hosting a fantastic three-day low-cost spay and neuter clinic that you won’t want to miss. It’s the perfect opportunity for pet owners who want to help control the local pet population and give their furry friends the care they need without breaking the bank.

Why Spaying and Neutering Matters

Misty Valenta, the Director of Animal Services at WCRAS, has been busy spreading the word about the importance of spaying and neutering pets. Not only does it play a critical role in enhancing community welfare, but it also helps reduce the overwhelming numbers of animals that find themselves in shelters. By participating in this clinic, you’re not just taking a step for your pet; you’re also contributing to a larger cause that impacts the entire community.

Get Your Reservations Ready

Before you pack up your pet for the clinic, don’t forget that reservations are required to participate! You’ll need to secure your spot to ensure that your four-legged friend can receive this important service. The surgery costs are $75 for cats and $125 for dogs, making it an affordable option for many families. The clinic is open to residents within the WCRAS jurisdiction, which includes nearby areas such as Cedar Park, Hutto, Leander, Round Rock, and unincorporated parts of Williamson County.

A Team Effort

This event is not just organized by WCRAS alone; it’s the result of an amazing collaboration between several groups, including the Fans of Williamson County Regional Animal Shelter and Animal Balance. The primary sponsor of this important clinic is Tito’s Handmade Vodka, showcasing how local businesses are stepping in to support the welfare of pets in our community.

For Community Cats—A Special Opportunity

But that’s not all, folks! Just Us Cat & Kitten Rescue has announced a generous $2,500 grant to fund free spay/neuter services for 100 community cats at the Brandywine Valley SPCA’s Georgetown facility. If you have a community cat that needs help, you will need to email to register, and remember to bring the cats in traps. Once they’re operated on, those little fellas will receive an ear tip, a little marker that indicates they’ve been fixed.

Keeping Track of Numbers

In 2024 alone, Just Us managed to fund an impressive 1,004 spay/neuter operations at the BVSPCA. Plus, they have initiatives aimed at supporting community cats, like their cat food bank, which provided a whopping 1,000 pounds of cat food this past January. Talk about going the extra mile for our feline friends!

Vaccine Clinics to the Rescue

And just when you think that’s all, hold onto your hats! Just Us has also rolled out a schedule for low-cost vaccine clinics set for the second Sunday of each month, with a few exceptions. So, even after the spay and neuter clinic, there are plenty of opportunities in 2025 to keep your pets healthy and happy.

Everyone Can Help

Just Us, a nonprofit organization founded in 2006, is committed to spaying and neutering community cats and facilitating adoptions. But they can’t do it alone. Volunteers are the backbone of their operations, helping with everything from TNR (trap-neuter-return) services to assisting distressed cats in need of support.

Join the Movement!

So mark your calendars, Georgetown! This spay and neuter clinic is a chance to make a difference for your pets and the community. Together, we can help create a brighter future for our furry companions!
