News Summary

Leander is set to welcome a Sprouts Farmers Market in 2027, near the $1 billion Northline development. Additionally, Desi Brothers will open a store in Round Rock by September 2025. Both expansions aim to diversify grocery options and create jobs in the rapidly growing Central Texas area, responding to increasing demand from the local population.

Leander is set to welcome a new Sprouts Farmers Market store, slated to open its doors in 2027. The upcoming location will be strategically established near the ambitious $1 billion Northline development, further enhancing the retail options available in the area. The announcement regarding this new store was made public on May 30, 2025.

The expansion of grocery offerings in Central Texas doesn’t stop with Sprouts. Desi Brothers, another grocery chain based in Austin, is also making significant moves. The company has signed a lease for approximately 48,000 square feet in Round Rock Crossing, with plans for this new store to open in September 2025. This location is expected to have approximately 30 employees upon opening.

While the Round Rock store for Desi Brothers is about double the size of a typical Sprouts Farmers Market, it is still notably smaller than an H-E-B store. In addition to the Round Rock location, Desi Brothers is also committed to constructing a new store in Leander from the ground up. This upcoming store will be positioned adjacent to the Sarita Valley condos along Ronald W. Reagan Boulevard, reflecting the company’s growth ambitions in the rapidly developing region.

Currently, Desi Brothers operates two locations in Austin, along with additional stores in Sugar Land, Texas, and at the Balaji Super Market in Memphis, Tennessee. The interest in expanding into Leander and Round Rock indicates a response to the growing demographic of the Central Texas area, which is experiencing significant growth.

The announcements of these new stores are part of the broader context of economic development in Central Texas, with many businesses seeking to capitalize on the region’s booming growth. This growth has been captured in a series titled “Boomtown,” which focuses on the ongoing changes and expansions within Central Texas.

The addition of Sprouts Farmers Market and Desi Brothers in Leander and Round Rock is anticipated to create job opportunities and provide residents with more diverse shopping options, marking a notable shift in the local grocery landscape as the area continues to evolve. The Northline development is considered to be a pivotal boost to the local economy, contributing to overall expansion and development within the community.

As construction plans take shape and the opening dates approach, both businesses are expected to play key roles in the local food retail scene, meeting the demands of a growing population and changing consumer preferences.

This development comes at a time when many grocery chains are adapting to incorporate more local products and offerings, positioning themselves to better serve their communities. As these stores prepare to open, both Leander and Round Rock are ready to embrace the changes that come with growth and expansion in the grocery sector.

The combination of Sprouts Farmers Market and Desi Brothers signifies not only a response to current residential growth but also a commitment to accessibility and variety in grocery shopping for both Leander and Round Rock residents in the years to come.
