J.C. met Doris Beverly Huie, his future wife, on a date in the summer following their high school graduation, leading to a five-year courtship. They married on November 23, 1949, and celebrated their 60th anniversary shortly before J.C.’s passing. The couple welcomed their daughter, Tamara “Tami” Carol, in 1957, followed by their son, John Lewis, in 1960. Their family expanded with the birth of their grandson, Kelson, in 1980.
After obtaining his architectural license, J.C. began a distinguished career that included significant projects for the University of Texas across various cities like San Antonio, Galveston, and Dallas.
