Born on April 10, 1911, near Georgetown, Texas, to Adolph Eugene and Jessie Lee Perry Ischy, Katherine’s early life was shaped by her experiences working on her family’s farm and attending local schools in the Georgetown area. Her initial ventures into the workforce included various roles at local cafes, culminating in a position at the original Sam Bass Café in downtown Round Rock.
