New Orleans, LA – Glenn H. Costanza, a beloved alumnus of Southwestern University and community leader, passed away on Thursday, July 17, 2025, after a six-month battle with a serious illness. He was 75 years old, just three days shy of his 76th birthday.

Costanza was born in New Orleans to Joyce June Melancon Costanza and Felix S. Costanza, Sr. His education included graduation from St. Aloysius and CorJesu High School in 1967, followed by attendance at Southwestern University and the University of New Orleans (UNO).

Glenn was actively involved in his local community, especially at St. Louis King of France Church, where he served as the head usher for the 4:00 Saturday Mass. He was deeply committed to charitable work, particularly through his long-standing association with the Ludovicum Council 4663, where he became a Knight and spent over 21 years contributing to various initiatives. One of his significant contributions was chairing the “Feed the People” council program, which served approximately 30,000 meals through 250 events.

His exceptional service and dedication did not go unnoticed; in 2008-2009, Costanza was honored as Knight of the Year for his loyalty and efforts in community service. Additionally, he contributed his time to veteran organizations such as the Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW), Disabled American Veterans (DAV), and the American Legion, reflecting his commitment to both his faith and country.

Glenn Costanza is survived by his sisters, Carla Curry and Lisa Beard, as well as several nieces and nephews, including Ryan Curry and Alyssa Curry Wylie. He also leaves behind several great-nieces and great-nephews, ensuring his legacy continues through his family. He was preceded in death by his parents, brother Felix S. Costanza, Jr. (Sammy), and niece Nicole F. Curry.

The family expressed their gratitude to the nurses and care team at Passages Hospice, the doctors at the Veterans Hospital, and their Community Living Center Team for the care and support given during Glenn’s illness.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend funeral services at Lake Lawn Metairie Funeral Home, located at 5100 Pontchartrain Blvd., New Orleans, on Friday, July 25, 2025. The visitation will take place from 10:00 a.m. until the Mass, which will begin at 12:00 p.m. Following the service, interment will be held at St. Louis No. 3 Cemetery in New Orleans.

Military Service

Glenn Costanza also had a commendable military career. He trained at Fort Knox, Kentucky, before being deployed to Vietnam, where he served as an Armored Reconnaissance Intelligence Specialist. Costanza was part of A Troop, 4th of the 12th Cavalry, earning the nickname “Fragman” for his brave and efficient service. His time in the military was filled with camaraderie, humor, and adventures that he often reminisced about with his fellow soldiers.
