The Georgetown Independent School District hosted its annual State of the District event on March 13, 2025, celebrating the incredible talents of its students. Highlights included performances from the Honors Choir and the SOAR Dance Company, as well as culinary creations from East View High School seniors. The event displayed an array of student achievements in arts, music, and cuisine, fostering community pride and appreciation for the diverse skills cultivated within the district.
On March 13, 2025, the city of Georgetown buzzed with excitement as the Georgetown Independent School District hosted its memorable annual State of the District event at the district headquarters. This lively occasion was a delightful way to show off the incredible talents and achievements of students from across the district.
The event kicked off with an engaging address from Dr. Devin Padavil, the Superintendent of Georgetown ISD. His enthusiastic remarks set the tone for a vibrant celebration of student accomplishments. The spotlight swiftly shifted from him to the talented students who had been rehearsing and preparing for this moment to shine.
Attendees were treated to a delicious culinary experience, thanks to the hard work of two seniors from East View High School, Kahless Fabricatore and Jude Frintz. These budding chefs whipped up mouth-watering pork sliders that had everyone raving. It was a perfect example of how skills learned in the classroom could lead to rave reviews!
Meanwhile, over at the floral design station, juniors Caitlin Clements and Emie Benson from Georgetown High School showcased their artistry. The vibrant arrangements and creative displays offered a visual feast, proving that creativity thrives in and out of the classroom.
As the evening progressed, attendees were treated to a dazzling dance performance by Anthony Miller, a student from Georgetown High School, who took the stage alongside members of the SOAR Dance Company. The dance group, aptly named Sharing Opportunity Through Adaptive Rhythm, featured many talented performers, including Annabelle Schmidt. Their inspiring performance was met with thunderous applause, showcasing the power of adaptive arts.
Music lovers were in for a treat when the Showstoppers, the Honors Choir from Village Elementary School, delivered a stirring performance that filled the room with harmonious melodies. Adding to the musical merriment was the Georgetown ISD Ballet Folklorico Company, featuring third grader Miguel Santos from Williams Elementary School. The lively rhythms and colorful costumes captivated the audience, who cheered for the talented dancers who conveyed the rich cultural traditions of our community.
The evening continued to shine as Delinda Fletcher, a seventh grader from Tippet Middle School, prepared to step into the spotlight with the Honors Band. Alongside her was Amir Poursmaeili, a talented tenor saxophonist, who dazzled the crowd with his skillful performance. Their music echoed throughout the venue, leaving a lasting impression on all who attended.
Not to be outdone, the vocal talents of Kamrin Gordon from Georgetown High School shone brightly as he performed with the Show Choir. His singing brought a touch of charm and vivacity to the event, showcasing the diverse musical education offered at Georgetown ISD.
Last but certainly not least, Cristal Govea, a senior studying cosmotology, displayed her talent at the event. Her skills in beauty and grooming illustrated the wide array of programs available at Georgetown ISD, helping students explore their interests and discover new passions.
The State of the District event was a spectacular showcase of the variety of talents and achievements of Georgetown ISD students. It was heartwarming to see the community come together, applauding the hard work and dedication of these young individuals.
